Who We Are

Chester Andover Family Center is currently seeking a dynamic and fun-loving General Manager to lead all aspects of our thrift store located in Chester , VT. CAFC makes a difference in the community by providing resources for financial assistance, supplemental nutritional food, affordable clothing and household goods. Our Thrift Store supports this mission by accepting and sorting donations of reusable household goods and clothing and maintaining an organized and clean store. Work Schedule

Hours -  25-30 hours per week

Store Hours – Wednesday through Friday 10AM – 4PM, Saturday 10AM – 2PM

Location – CAFC Thrift Store, Chester VT

Compensation – $25 per hour

Job Requirements

  • The Thrift Store Manager will open and close the store.

  • Work with Board Directors to create strategic plans to increase revenue, including marketing and outreach

  • Ensure all volunteers are adequately trained to provide excellent customer service to donors and shoppers, move items in and out of the store, sort and price items and keep the store clean and organized.

  • Foster a positive work environment through transparent decision-making, open dialogue, planned volunteer meetings, and ongoing training.

  • Develop and implement marketing strategies.

  • Create, update, and standardize training guides, operations manuals, and pricing/merchandising across the stores.

  • Respond to customer and donor feedback and questions.

  • Work with Facilities team and Board of Directors to ensure a safe and orderly work environment.

  • Managing the Volunteer database and work calendar.

  • Cover management gaps and jump into store responsibilities when needed.

  • Perform related duties and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of 3 years of supervision or volunteer management experience, preferably in a nonprofit setting

  • A minimum of an associate’s degree or equivalent work experience

  • Experience in a retail setting preferred

  • Exceptional level of professionalism and respect for others

  • Excellent communication skills

  • Ability to manage with minimal supervision

  • Time management and organization skills

  • Ability to lift up to 50 pounds as needed

  • Ability to manage stairs up to the second floor and down.

  • Ability to stand for duration of shift.
