Events Overview
In 2016, the Family Center Board of Directors understood that to sustain the level of service provided to our community and maintain our building, we needed to not only initiate creative fundraising but also engage the community in our efforts.
We had two goals. First, raise money to support our mission to “make a difference in our community by providing resources for financial assistance, supplemental, nutritional food, affordable clothing and household good.” Second, generate awareness of our organization and the services we provide to people in our community struggling to make ends meet.
Our first community fundraising event, Christmas Under the Tent, took place on Columbus weekend in 2016. It was a huge success. The community as well as tourists could not resist holiday shopping under the tents. We raised money, cleared out our holiday storeroom and made many new friends and loyal shoppers.
Since then we have initiated two additional fundraising events, all in collaboration with community partners.
