December News

Happy December everyone. The holidays are upon us and the Family Center is ready. As promised, this blog will provide a complete list of our Christmas initiatives and how the community can help us provide food, financial assistance, and gifts for CAFC Recipient Families.

You know about our food shelf and our financial assistance, but did you know about our gift certificate program? Every year in December, we give our recipient families a Thrift Shop gift certificate valued at $25.00 for each family member. If you have shopped with us, you know that goes a long way. You can just imagine how important this shopping opportunity is to families struggling to make ends meet. It is one of our favorite activities. One mom told us that she usually depends on donated gifts and this the first time she has been able to “go Christmas shopping” for her family. We all shed a few tears of joy with her.

We know you will help in a way that meets your own budget and for that we thank you. If you have additional ideas, please send us an email at cafc302@gmail.com

Here is our list of ways to help. It is long but I encourage you to read to the end. It will take a community effort this year. Please participate in any way you can.

You Can Make A Difference

Tell friends and neighbors about the Family Center - If someone you know is struggling to pay a bill, in need of food or a warm coat, tell them to call us at 802-875-3236 and leave a message. A Family Center volunteer will return their call and find a way to help.

Participate in the CHH Katiroubous Food Drive on December 12 - Family Center Volunteers will be at the CAES Produce Drop at CAES from 8:30-11 to accept your cash donations, non-perishable food items as well as turkeys and hams. Help us provide a bountiful holiday meal for our food shelf recipients.

Donate a Katsiroubous Cares Produce Box - A Katsiroubous Cares Produce Box cost $25 and can be ordered and paid for here. Your produce box donations will be delivered to our Food Shelf.

Donate directly to the Food Shelf - Visit us on Thursdays, 1-5 and Fridays, 10-2. Monetary contributions are always welcome as that allows us to purchase in bulk. Send a check to CAFC, PO Box 302, Chester VT. Donate through PayPal here.

Participate in the Andover Snowriders Food Drive, November 23-December 12 - Collection boxes are at the Chester and Andover Town Clerk's offices, Rowell's Inn, Southern Pie Cafe', and the Heritage Deli. We welcome non-perishable food items, hygiene products, and baby food. The collection boxes will be in place until Friday, December 11th.

Participate in our RUG RAFFLE - The Family Center has been gifted with two beautiful, braided rugs; hand made by Edie Brown. They would look lovely in any home, so you can treat yourself or give a special gift to a friend or family member. Tickets are available in the Thrift Shop, Ticket Prices: One ticket for $1.00, Three tickets for $2,00, Five tickets for $3.00. Drawing is December 19 at 3PM. You do not need to be present to win.

Shop at the Thrift Shop Fridays, 10-4 and Saturdays, 10-3 - We have a dazzling assortment of gifts, decorations, clothing, and housewares. Thrift Shop sales support our Financial Assistance and Food Shelf Program.
