Winter Update from the CAFC Board

Thank you to all volunteers and welcome to new volunteers from the CAFC Board of Directors.

We could not fulfill our mission without you.

The board is implementing a Finance Committee, consisting of current board members and representatives from the community. The Finance Committee will make recommendations to the board for budgeting, investment, and capital planning.

We are pleased to report that our Annual Appeal is on track to exceed 2021 giving. All “Appeal” donors receive a handwritten thank you note from a board member. If you have not received your personal thank you yet, know it is on the way. In the meantime, thank you to all who have donated.

Appeal donations are an important part of our budget along with Thrift Shop sales, and community fundraising events. Thrift Shop sales, alone, account for nearly 40% of our annual budget.  These funds support our Financial Assistance and Food Shelf Programs. as well as general Family Center operations such as heating and insuring our building.

The Board is currently working to identify our specific needs in terms of filling board positions. These needs will guide us in vetting applicants. Volunteers may contact a current board member for more information and to express interest in filling a board position.

COVID Protocols are in place for the Thrift Shop, Food Shelf and for all in-person meetings at the Center.

Masks, sanitizing, and social distancing are required for all volunteers working in the Thrift Shop and Food Shelf.

The Thrift Shop is currently open to shoppers.

The Food Shelf is requesting that recipients remain in their car.

A Food Shelf volunteer will provide them with a food list for that day, pack the food requested and bring it out to the recipient’s car.
