Food Shelf

The Chester-Andover Family Center Food Shelf provides Chester and Andover residents with supplemental food including non-perishable staples, “fresh” produce, meat and dairy. Food Shelf Recipients shop once a month for their basic food and may shop every Friday for fresh produce, bread, pastries and other “special” food items”.

Staffed by volunteers, our food shelf provides a food shopping experience that allows recipients to make choices for themselves and their family. Recipes and information  on nutrition are available. We can also help identify additional food sources in the greater Chester-Andover community.

The Chester-Andover Family Center Food Shelf  distributes food  through TEFAP, The Emergency Federal Food Assistance Program. We can help determine if you are eligible for this program.

The Food Shelf depends on proceeds from Thrift Shop sales, individual and corporate donations and fundraising  to purchase food. Donations of shelf-stable foods and fresh produce from businesses, organizations, growers and individuals are essential to our operation.

Our partners include the Vermont Food Bank and the Healthy Harvest Network.

Food Shelf Hours:

Thursdays, 2-6PM

Fridays from 10AM-2PM

If you or someone you know is in need of food assistance, come to the Food Shelf during our business hours. A volunteer will assist you in completing an Intake Form. All residents of Chester and Andover are eligible Food Shelf recipients. Please bring proof of residency  such as a Green Mountain Power bill or rental agreement. All personal information is kept confidential.

 How You Can Help
