The Center is involved in a number of community activities which include the Project Feed the Thousands where the Center receives funds for its Food Shelf. The Center’s former Board President, Edie Brown, is instrumental in coordinating the annual Outerwear and Blanket Drive. Held in the fall of each year, items are collected through donation boxes around both Chester and Andover and then are given away at distribution days held at the St. Joseph’s Parish Hall in Chester. Another activity which provides fun for children and Center volunteers is the Center’s booth at the annual Fall Festival in Chester. Children can play games for free and win prizes which include toys, stuffed animals, and books, compliments of the Center’s Thrift Shop. The booth is also an opportunity to remind the community of services offered through the Center and encourage residents to shop at the Thrift Shop.
The Center has assumed the Election Day Bake Sale fund raiser from the Chester Four Corners Homemakers who conducted the Sales for many, many years. The Center is very grateful to continue with the tradition of providing baked goodies for everyone who comes to vote and anyone who needs something sweet and delicious to go with their coffee or tea. Don’t forget to stop by!
