The Family Center is a non-profit, volunteer run organization. In addition to our Thrift Store and Food Shelf, we provide heating and electricity financial assistance for residents struggling to make ends meet. Shopping with us on October 6, will help us raise funds to support CAFC programs that contribute to the well-being of our community.
Please join us under the tent at the CAFC for this fun and important event
The Chester-Andover Family Center would like to acknowledge and thank all the local businesses who support our community by donating Silent Auction Items. Your donation helped the Family Center raise needed funds to purchase food for our Food Shelf and provide financial assistance for individuals and families struggling to make ends meet.
The 2018 Hot Dog Cook-Off was a great success thanks to Francy and Sheldon, Stone Hearth Innkeepers and event hosts, the many volunteers and businesses that contributed Silent Auction Items and the community for their participation. Together, we make a difference.

The Chester Andover Family Center is sponsoring a Free Drawing for Backpacks filled with School Supplies. Stop in to the Thrift Shop during business hours Thursday, August 16th through Saturday, August 25th to sign up for the drawing. No purchase is necessary. We will notify the lucky winners at the end of the day, Saturday, August 25th.
Thrift shop hours are Thursdays and Fridays 10-4 and Saturdays 10-3.
On Sunday afternoon, August 12th, the Stone Hearth Inn will host the Seventh Annual Hot Dog Cook-Off.
This family friendly community fundraiser benefits the Chester-Andover Family Center and local youth athletic organizations. The event takes place from 1-4 and features music, prizes and the famous Chester-Andover Family Center Silent Auction and Basket Raffle. The best part, however, is the rivalry among the “hot dog “chefs. Eleven chefs have entered the competition and will be cooking “dogs” during the Cook-Off.
The price of admission entitles you to all the hotdogs you can eat and a chance to vote for your favorite dog!Last year, Billy won the “Best Dog in Show” with his spectacular New Orleans style “Big Easy”. Will he retain his title? Join us at the Stone Hearth Inn from 1-4 on Sunday, August 12 and vote for your favorite dog. Admission is $20 for a family, $10 for adults and $5 for students.
Your participation will support the Chester-Andover Family Center Food Shelf and Financial Assistance program helping local residents struggling to make ends meet and provides funding for local youth athletic programs.
The Stone Hearth is located at 698 VT RT 11W in Chester. Call the Stone Hearth at 802-875-2525 or the Family Center, CAFC, at 802-875 3236 for additional information.
Chester Andover Family Center volunteers have been working on new merchandise displays to make it easier for shoppers to find what they need. We have an inventory process that allows us to continually make room for new donations and we are very mindful about having a great selection of seasonal merchandise available at all times. Our new, uncluttered, clean look serves two important purposes; easier access for customers to our merchandise and easier access for volunteers to dust and sweep.
When you need apparel for your vacation or special occasion, stop in and take a look. When you need a household item for your kitchen or camp, you should check us out. Trying to keep the children busy this summer? We have a large assortment of books, puzzles and games.
Remember that when you make a purchase at the Thrift Shop, you are helping us purchase food for our Food Shelf, keep the lights on and provide financial assistance to residents of Chester and Andover struggling to make ends meet.
The CAFC Thrift Shop is open Thursday and Friday from 10-4 and Saturday, 10-3.

“Providing a Helping Hand to Persons and Families in Need.”
The Letter Carriers’ Stamp Out Hunger® Food Drive
will be held on Saturday, May 12.
It is the largest one-day food drive in America.
Help us provide food for Chester-Andover Food Shelf participants.
All food collected will be transported by
Family Center Volunteers from the Chester Post Office
to The Chester-Andover Family Center Food Shelf.
When do I put out the food?
On Saturday, May 12, just set out your non-perishable food well before your letter carrier’s normal pick-up time. Your letter carrier will be delivering and collecting mail as usual, on top of collecting food donations, so that pickup time could be slightly later than usual.
What do you mean by “non-perishable food?”
The top requested non-perishable food items are: cereal, spaghetti sauce, rice, canned fruits and vegetables, canned meals (such as soups, chili and pasta), 100% juice, peanut butter, macaroni & cheese, canned protein (tuna, chicken and turkey), beans (canned or dry). You also can donate healthy, low-sodium, low-sugar items such as oatmeal, whole grains, and canola or olive oil.
